My bliss filled time in the Italian village of Portofino was a summer day trip after arriving in Genoa on a cruise ship. We took a short train ride from Genoa to Santa Margarita and proceeded to take the hiking trail to Portofino. The trail is an easy, wide stone/paved hike bordering the cliff-side with stunning views of the Mediterranean and beautiful villas. Along the way, there is opportunity to swim and enjoy the clear, warm ocean water. The trail slops down a hill into the village of Portofino and it’s as if you have stepped into a beautiful painting. Once there you will experience remarkable food, gelato and glance upon beautiful yachts and sailboats docked at shore.
